JOB SUMMARY
As an Aerial Lineman, you will be responsible for stringing and repairing telephone and television cables, including fiber optics and other equipment essential for transmitting messages or television programming.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- String and repair telephone, television, and fiber optic cables.
- Clean and maintain tools and test equipment.
- Splice cables using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
- Inspect and test lines and cables; record and analyze test results to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.
- Access specific areas to string lines and install terminal boxes, auxiliary equipment, and appliances using bucket trucks, climbing poles, ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces.
- Set up service for customers by installing, connecting, testing, and adjusting equipment.
- Place insulation over conductors and seal splices with moisture-proof coverings.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in splicing cables and working with hand tools, epoxy, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to inspect, test, and repair lines and cables.
- Proficient in working at heights using bucket trucks, climbing poles, or working in confined spaces such as tunnels and trenches.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to use protective equipment effectively.
- Good physical condition, with the ability to lift and carry equipment and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and repair cable and line issues.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites as required.
