Description

Juston & Chasity are celebrating their 2nd Anniversary of owning The Chicken Farm Art Center with the Grand Opening of The Chicken Farm Art Center Gallery & Souvenir Shop where you can buy unique mementos made by the farm artists as well as locally made souvenirs and fun farm and art related items. The new gallery will showcase art for sale from both local and non-local artists. The new souvenir shop is located in the former Starkeeper Gallery. The new Chicken Farm Gallery is located just behind it in Roger Allen’s former pottery throwing room. The Starkeeper Gallery will be relocated at another date in the future. Come celebrate on First Saturday, August 3rd for our Ribbon Cutting and State of the Arts at The Chicken Farm Art Center at 10:30am. Cookies and punch will be provided. The Chicken Farm Art Center opened its doors in 1971 when the late Roger Allen quit his job as the Central High School art teacher and partnered with a couple buddies to make an artist dream a reality! Roger Allen, Bill Rich, and Richard Ramirez bought a vacant set of buildings - formerly a 1940's chicken farm - and slowly converted it into studios and apartments where artists could live in community and build the 'Art Spirit'. With the help of Jerry and Susan Warnell, Gary Kosmas & Sylvia Perez, the art center now encompasses 17 studios, 5 apartments, 3 operating restaurants, a gallery, souvenir shop, a classroom, Kid’s Coop and Inn at the Art Center. The Chicken Farm Art Center is open every week Thursday – Saturday 11-4pm. Breakfast and Lunch offered Tuesday – Saturday and Dinner Thursday – Saturday.
