JOB SUMMARY
 
The Mechanic Shop Manager oversees all aspects of the shop's operations, ensuring the highest standards of customer service, team performance, and workplace safety. This role involves managing the repair team, maintaining operational efficiency, and developing strategies to achieve shop goals while ensuring customer satisfaction.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
  • Supervise and manage a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, task assignments, and ensuring timely completion of all work orders.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship for all repairs and services.
  • Manage inventory levels, order necessary parts, and monitor material usage to optimize efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce shop safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Address customer inquiries, provide accurate estimates, and handle complaints professionally.
  • Evaluate shop performance, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare detailed reports on shop activities, financial metrics, and staff productivity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with senior management to create and monitor budgets and financial plans for the shop.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Minimum of 3 years in automotive repair or shop management.
  • Strong understanding of automotive repair processes, systems, and equipment.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to address customer needs and build positive relationships.
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or management training is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
